Offered for sale is a 19th century French Louis XV Provincial Fauteuil en Confessionnal covered in a scenic Aubusson tapestry. The Fauteuil en Confessional was the French 18th century precursor to the wing chair. The sinuously molded frame is hand carved with shells and acanthus leaves and raised on cabriole legs.
The chair is in very good condition with minor restoration to the frame. The tapestry is intact with the exception of fraying around one of the arms where it meets the seat. The proportions of the chair are generous.
Size: 42” Height by 31” Width by 21” Depth.
