Offered for sale is a fine period Aesthetic Movement English Floor screen with a carved mahogany frame surrounding a glass encased Japanese hand embroidered silk panel. The stand emphasizes the elements of design associated with this period of art in England, such as the "Far Eastern" influence found in the carvings and its prominent use of nature found in the embroidered floral textile design.
The screen is in excellent condition with minor restoration to the frame structure for added strength. The beautiful silk embroidery shows slight age related fading to the woven background, but the embroidery is pristine probably due to its being shielded under glass all of these years. The back silk cover does have a small tear.
Size: 54” Height by 28 ½” Width by 2” Depth.
