Presented for sale is a pair of English Royal Crown Derby dinner plates, date 1877-1890, in their popular King's pattern. The plates are decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blues and vivid iron red enamels highlighted in gilt.
This endearing pattern is one of Derby's most sought after designs; the underglaze cobalt blues and iron-ore red enamels have a timeless appeal that have kept collectors desiring these pieces for almost two centuries.
It is getting increasingly difficult to find even a single 19th century piece of the King's pattern. These plates are in excellent condition with a small amount of gilt or enamel wear. We have a "matching" pair of these large dinner plates also for sale, with just a very subtle difference in pattern execution.
Size: 10 1/4" Diameter.
