Presented for sale is a matched pair of first period Worcester porcelain Botanical Baskets, circa 1770. The oval shaped lattice pierced baskets are decorated to the exterior on a yellow ground with puce colored floral sprigs at the junction of each cross hatch section. The sides are decorated with twig shaped handles and applied flowers and leaves. The interior is painted with large bouquets of spring flowers on a white ground.
The baskets are in very good condition with minor chips and enamel loss commensurate with age. It is rare to find one of these first period baskets and even rarer to find a matched pair. Size: 9” Length by 7 ¼” Width by 3 ¾” Height.
