Presented for sale is a beautiful mid 20th century oil painting on canvas by French artist Lucien Delarue (b. 1925). The painting depicts a pitcher filled with a variety of flowers set against a green to blue shaded background. The floral still life is a detour for this talented artist, as he is well known for his “French rooftops" and "coastal scenes”. However, the soft blended colors and watery background are a trademark of his style regardless of the subject matter.
The painting is set into a molded aqua-painted frame with silver highlights, perfect for the setting of the painting. It is is in excellent condition.
Lucien Delarue was born in Paris, France and is one of the best known contemporary French Impressionists. He has won many prestigious medals and honors for his body of work including the Vermeil-Medalle at the Salon Violet, as well as the Salon Vincennes and the Salon of Clichy. His paintings are featured in many museum exhibitions as well as private collections.
