Presented for sale is a fine example of the beautiful workmanship done by Coalport in England at the beginning of the 19th century in the Coalbrookdale style. The basket is painted in deep cobalt blue with summer flowers hand-painted on the interior. A variety of finely formed porcelain flowers decorate the sides, edges and handle of the basket and it is raised on scalloped vine-formed feet.
The basket is in excellent condition with perhaps a few tiny chips and losses to the floral edges, but overall it's in perfect shape commensurate with age. A similar piece is illustrated in the book “Coalport 1795-1926” by Michael Messenger, page 208, plate 66.
Size: 7 ½” Height by 11” Length by 6 ½” Depth.
