Offered for sale is an English soft paste porcelain flower-encrusted inkstand attributed to Coalport/Coalbrookdale. The oblong tray has two pierced handles at each end with three ringed wells. The inkstand holds a small candlestick and two inkpots with covers. The workmanship is very detailed, all the flowers molded and painted by hand, a true work of art.
Set this on a table for a conversation piece and marvel at the intricacy of the flowers. The inkstand is in good overall condition with the following noted: the backside of the tray has old restorations to the handles along with some age lines, there is some minor chipping and loss to the flowers, and one of the interior inkpots is not original, the other has a chip. These pieces are seldom without flaws and very hard to find.
Size of Tray: 11 ½” Length by 6 ½” Depth.
