Offered for sale is a late 19th century Irish Georgian style carved mahogany settee in the Chippendale manner. The triple-section settee features highly carved yoke shaped crests above vasiform pierced splats. The drop-in seat fits snugly into a serpentine seat frame with valanced skirt. The settee is raised on pronounced cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet and connected with X-crossed molded stretchers.
The settee is beautifully proportioned with undulating lines on a small delicate scale with boldly carved elements. It is a perfect piece for an entrance hall, to put under a window, or in front of a bed. It is well constructed, very sturdy, and in very good condition with minor signs of age-appropriate wear. The red damask upholstery on the seat cover is slightly worn but still in usable condition.
Size: 43” Height by 60” Width by 18” Depth.
