Offered for sale is a stunning 19th century English Regency tilt-top center breakfast table in the manner of George Oakley. The tabletop features book-matched mahogany woods, border banding in satinwood and ebony, with mother-of-pearl star-patterned inlays. The top is raised on a cylindrical, parcel-gilt, mahogany column with gadroon carving. It surmounts a trefoil concave platform terminating in partially gilt scrolled feet.
The tabletop hinges to the column and attaches by means of two substantial brass thumb screws, and locks when in the "down" position. The table is very sturdy and well constructed and in fine condition with the following noted: The top shows slight separation in the quartered book-matched veneers and a slight warping to the top when seen at certain angles. There is also age-related fracturing to the veneers on the platform.
Size: 48” Diameter by 30” Height.
