Offered for sale is an early 20th century Impressionist oil painting on canvas by Hungarian artist, Pal Fried (1893 – 1976). The painting depicts Paris in autumn and what appears to be the Pont Neuf over the Seine River.
Pal Fried was born in Budapest and painted mostly figures and portraits focusing on young beautiful women and nudes. After he moved to Paris, he trained under Lucien Simone as well as Claude Monet. He traveled extensively widening his skill and technique before settling in New York City after World War II.
He became popular in Hollywood where he painted many society matrons as well as popular movie queens of the day such as the Gabor sisters and Marilyn Monroe. We have collected and sold many of his paintings and are always delighted to welcome another one to our repertoire.
The painting is in excellent condition.
