Offered for sale is a nice pair of late 19th century Louis XV style Bergeres or armchairs with carved fruitwood frames. The peanut-shaped backs curve sinuously down to cabriole legs, which flank a highly carved valance. The chairs are hand-carved with floral frames and have a delicacy so commonly found in French furniture yet they are roomy and comfortable.
The red striped upholstery is still in very good condition with a loose seat cushion topping a custom made platform bottom. The chairs are in very good condition with minor age-related separation to the joints in a few areas.
