Offered for sale is a charming 19th century bucolic English landscape attributed to British artist Thomas Creswick (1811 – 1869.) The painting depicts a ferry laden with harnessed horses and their masters. A young lad pulls the boat closer to the shore as other boats ply the waters in the background.
Creswick was most fond of painting rural landscapes along English and Welsh streams and became one of the best-known members of the Birmingham School of landscape painters. His works are represented in several Museums including, Sheffield, Canterbury, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The painting is in very good condition and comes with an attached appraisal. It is housed in a giltwood frame, with the rear protected by foam board.
