Offered for sale is an exquisite mid 19th century French Kingwood marquetry dressing table or Table Ambulante fitted with Sevres plaques and mounted in ormolu. The table has a hinged top opening to reveal a storage compartment. It is raised on gently curved cabriole legs connected with a bottom shelf.
These small portable tables were most sought after and found in the private boudoirs of fashionable aristocratic ladies in 18th and 19th century France. The more decorated the table, the more desirable and valuable.
The table is in excellent condition with an aged patina to the bronze mounts and minor wood shrinkage appropriate for its age. The beautiful hand painted Sevres plaques are intact, original, and in perfect condition.
Size: 28” Height by 16 ½” Width by 12” Depth.
