Presented for sale is an outstanding 19th C. Louis XV highly carved beechwood side table with polychrome finish. The table features a conforming molded top inset with a padded Scalamandre silk panel. The carved frieze is pierced with floral garlands and cartouches and the table is raised on cabriole legs ending in scrolled feet.
The table is in very good condition; the carved elements are wood (not gesso) and very finely made. The polychrome finish is nicely worn and blended with celadon highlights. There is some wear to the finish, which is to be expected, but the patina on the table is outstanding. We have added a fitted glass to the top to protect the silk, which is not shown in the pictures and only an option if you wish to use it, but it can accompany the table.
We cannot find enough of these wonderful tables that are beautiful from all angles (the last photo shows the table from the opposite side) and so easy to place anywhere in a room.
Size: 28” Height by 39” Length by 26” Width.
