Offered for sale is a late 19th century French mahogany Louis XVI style Bonheur du Jour with Cylindre desk and Vitrine mounted in drapery cast ormolu. The desk features a beveled glass vitrine with a single door and shelved interior flanked on each side with open shelves. This sits atop a center section fitted with a cylinder roll flanked on each side by three small drawers. The leather trimmed writing surface pulls out to open the cylinder roll and expose the fitted interior.
The lower section contains a frieze with one long drawer and is supported on fluted legs that taper down to toupee brass cuppings. The desk is in very good condition with minor warping to some of the pierced ormolu gallery and a few minor age-related fractures to the veneer. The vitrine and some of the drawers lock, the original keys are included.
