Presented for sale is a fine example of Palissy ware made in Portuguese in the early part of the 20th century. This is a very nice example of the type of wares made after the original French Palissy pieces produced by Bernard Palissy (1510 – 1590). This distinctive ware is renown for its three dimensional naturalistic motifs usually depicting marine or insect life. This particular is a favorite with the figure of a large crab foremost and center.
The plate is very heavy and ready to hang. It is in very good condition with no visible faults.
Size: 13" Diameter.
