Presented for sale is a lovely late 19th century English Royal Worcester compote with a figural column depicting two children obviously involved in a game of Hide and Seek at the base of a tree. The compote is painted in their blush ivory finish with delicate enamels picked up in the florals of the girls dress and the boy's shirt and collar. There is also a faint light dusting of gilt to the beautiful relief found in the pierced edges of the compote and subtly in other areas such as their shoes. The compote mimics a woven basket.
The piece is in very good condition with professional restoration found in the bottom of the compote, only barely noticeable from the inside as shown. This is a rare piece of Royal Worcester and wonderful for a centerpiece.
