Presented for sale is a magnificant late 19th century Italian hand carved alabaster sculpture depicting four fully formed cherubs frolicking around a column raised on a round pedestal. The sculpture is finely chiseled and obviously the work of a master carver although there is no visible signature. The facial expressions, hair, and bodies of the cherubs are carved in fine detail and the sculpture could not be more charming.
The sculpture is in excellent condition with a minute amount of wear around the edges of ribbon and toes to be expected with age. The coloration still retains its creamy white surface. The sculpture was fitted as a lamp and our lighting restorer has recently rewired the electrical works. We have also added a designer silk shade in black, which complements the lamp.
*Please note that this piece is extremely heavy; crating or hand delivery will be recommended for shipping.
Size: 39" Height (total lamp) or 19" Height of sculpture only.
