Presented for sale is a Louis XVI marquetry Specimen writing table with four hinged drop leaves. The squared top is decorated with scrolled floral inlays and each side holds an inlaid hinged leaf that opens upward. The leaves are supported by wooden brackets that swing out from flush cut cavities underneath. The table has concave corners and is supported on fluted legs that taper down to toupee feet connected by a bottom stretcher.
The table is mahogany wood and in very good age appropriate condition; it is a quality piece and very structurally sound. The table retains an old tag underneath for Karcher & Rehn Co. They were a well established 19th and early 20th century retail establishment in Philadelphia that sold upscale furniture and décor.
Size: 29 ½" Height by 21" Square (closed) or 37 ½" square (all leaves open).
