Offered for sale is an exceptional matched pair of mid 19th century French Sevres porcelain vases fitted in bronze mounts and later accessorized as lamps. The vases are of neo-classical form and enameled in a bleu-celeste ground. They are decorated with a finely hand painted bucolic scene on the front and a Boizot a Boucs on the back and are stepped up with raised gilt in scroll and crosshatch. The vases rest on a bronze socle raised on a drum shaped porcelain pedestal which is mounted on a bronze-footed base. They are further enhanced with sumptuously scrolled handles.
The bronze casting is some of the finest and most detailed that we have ever seen with a even patina and traces of green patination. The lamps are both in excellent condition; with slight age related wear to the bleu ground and minor wear to the gilt. They are unquestionably of superior quality and have to be appreciated by collectors of fine French Sevres porcelain. The wiring is safe and up to date.
