Presented for sale is a rare English Staffordshire molded duck on nest with a glazed multicolored lustre finish. Staffordshire began experimenting with lustre finishes in the early 19th century and usually confined the glazes to smaller pieces.
This beautiful example features the full figure of a duck sitting on her eggs perched on a well-defined woven basket. She is resplendantly decorated in orange/copper and lavender lustres.
The ensemble is in mint condition with very little of the glaze worn or missing, no crazing, breaks, or hairlines.
