Presented for sale is an elegant English George III diminutive mahogany sideboard in demilune shape after the style of George Gillows (1704-1772). The conforming top is centered with a frieze drawer fitted in green baize with cutlery divisions. A center raised panel conceals the drawer and provides a finger hold. This is flanked by one deep drawer and one cupboard drawer also fitted in green baize with decorative keyhole escutcheons and brass pulls. A shaped apron partially conceals a Tambour front sliding compartment.
The sideboard is supported on finely tapered legs ending in spade feet, and the beautifully figured mahogany is strung with pencil inlays and banding. The sideboard is in excellent condition with scratches and minor losses acceptable for its age, the sides exhibiting linear age cracks to the panels, typical of aged English pieces, which we have elected to leave alone.
Size: 54 ½" Length by 36 ½" Height by 25 ½" Depth.
