Presenting for sale a magnificent 19th century bronze mantle clock by well known Paris Horologist Constantin Louis Detouche (1810 -1889). This Architectural style Second Empire clock has a striking movement and a gilded dial with Roman numerals, signed on the front by the maker.
Detouche ran a very successful retail clock establishment but was renowned for his exhibition quality mechanical pieces and his early work on electrical horology and public clocks. He often corroborated with Robert Houdin and held numerous patents for his mechanical genius and public service.
The clock is in non-working order but all of the works are present with the exception of the pendulum. The clock will need to be adjusted by a clock restorer in order to run.
