Presenting for sale a delightful pair of late 19th century porcelain Bocage decorated peasant figurines made by the Paris firm of Edme Samson in the style of 18th century Chelsea, gold anchor period. The figures are mounted on scrolled bases, beautifully hand painted in strong earthy colors.
Edme Samson was a famous for re-creating hard paste copies of works from earlier well-known English and European factories. His pieces were finely executed and have become collectible in their own right.
The bocage figures are in good age related condition with minor chips to some of the floral tips.
