Presented for sale is a charming late 19th century French Biscuit porcelain bust made by the firm of Samson & Cie. The bust depicts the figure of a young maiden dressed in a bonnet, with her head tilted demurely. Young maidens were a favorite subject of the 19th century sculptor, D. Greuze.
The bust is raised on a ebony wooden plinth and is in very good condition with the exception of old restorations to the tips of some of the flowers on her decolletage.
Size: 21" Height by 7" Square (including plinth).
