Presenting a late 19th century Louis XV bronze mounted five-drawer bureau plat or partners' writing desk. The desk has a brown leather surface laden with finely detailed bronze mounts over a central drawer, flanked on each side by two drawers, mimicked by false drawers on the verso. The desk is supported on bronze mounted cabriole legs.
Each drawer locks and the carcass is veneered with a stunning cross-hatched parquetry inlay. This desk is attributed to the workshops of Henry Dasson (1825 – 1896) who is ranked as one of the greatest French furniture makers of the 19th century.
The desk is in very good age related condition, with minor veneer restoration and a faded leather surface that belies its age and elegance.
