19th Century Louis XV Parquetry Perfume Casket, Four Bottles
Presenting a late 19th century French Louis XV style parquetry and Kingwood perfume casket with fitted interior holding four crystal perfume bottles with stoppers. The bottles and stoppers are finely decorated in gilt enamel. The liner was added c. mid 20th Century.
The hinged box is enhanced with fitted ormolu, a locking escutcheon, and the original key. The box is in superb condition with a little looseness to the hinge. The bottles are all in good condition with a few minor nicks to the edge of one stopper and a minute amount of gilt loss. This is a beautiful little treasure from a bygone era and perfect for showcasing a lady's vanity. We have left the delightful traces of French perfume found in some of the bottles; the scent still so strong that it will fill a room with its wonderful aroma.
Size: 4 ¼" Height by 8" Length by 6 ¼" Depth.
