Offered for sale is a circa 1840 Neo-Rococo 13 piece dessert set, attributed to Copeland & Garret. The set features a peach colored border reserve, stepped up in gilt, and embellished with flowers in the center.
Each pair is decorated with a different flower hand-painted by a talented artist who excelled in the art of florals. The puce marked pattern numbers indicate the Copeland & Garrett period of 1840's.
The richness of the peach border offsets the vibrant enamels used in the floral paintings, which make the set spectacular for display. The set is in overall excellent age related condition with the following exceptions:
Size of 1 cake plate: 9 1/4" Diameter (handle to handle)
Size of 6 cups: 3 3/8" Height (one cup with repaired handle, one cup with two tight hairlines, minute amount of gilt and enamel wear)
Size of 6 saucers: 6 1/4" Diameter (tight hairline to one plate, minute amount of enamel and gilt wear).
