Presented for sale is a pair of stunning period George III matching mahogany knife boxes with fitted interiors. The boxes feature hinged sloping lids inlaid with a central floral paterae and satinwood banding. The serpentine edges are outlined in pencil inlay.
The tops open to reveal the original fitted cutlery compartments outlined in rope patterned inlay and centered with a star. The old locks and keyhole escutcheons are still present. The boxes exhibit a rich patina with some restorations to the inlay.
They are in good age related condition with minor wood shrinkage and slight warping to the tops found in any old pair and to be expected.
