Offered for sale is a magnificent 1905 – 1910 Riessner & Kessel Amphora pottery vase. The vase features a basket woven design with a heavy application of large cabbage roses glazed in a soft iridescent olive green. The rim has two rope twisted handles stepped up in gilt.
The pottery firm of Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel was founded in Trnovany, Czech Republic (Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, Austria) in 1892. They were known for their artistically molded pottery decorated in beautiful glazes, no two pieces exactly alike. The mark reflects the period after Eduard Stellmacher left to form his own company and only Riessner and Kessel remained.
The vase is in excellent condition with a few minor age related chips to the petals of the flowers.
Size: 14” Height.
