For sale is a lovely English Staffordshire Pearlware blue and white transfer chestnut basket and stand in the pattern known as Chinoiserie Bridgeless, Hermit, or Man in Doorway. The pattern is often associated with Davenport and Minton but was also produced by other makers. This is a very finely potted piece with lovely color and definition, no maker’s mark visible. There is a looped and pierced border on the stand and a pierced crosshatched panel on the bowl.
They are both in excellent condition and are matched set, so rare to find one that is not a marriage.
Size of chestnut bowl: 2 3/4” Height x 9 1/2” Length (handle to handle) by 6 1/4” Depth
Size of stand: 9 5/8” Length by 7 7/8” Depth.
