Presenting one of our favorite contemporary Continental artists, Lucien Delarue, with a beautifully rendered oil on canvas depicting the port of Nice, France. The painting captures the charming coastline of Southern France with its colorful washed out villages and azure sea.
Lucien Delarue is beloved in France, the country of his birth, and by collectors all over the world. His "rooftop" series of paintings convey a depth of field that few painters ever accomplish, and his soft blending of pastel colors, with a hint of brightness thrown in, creates a stunning effect. Delarue has received many prestigious awards and honors throughout his long career. He is a lifelong member of the Salon des Artistes and of the French Watercolor Society.
The painting is in excellent condition, signed in the lower left hand corner, and titled on the back. It has been inset into a lovely carved frame with a creamy yellow overglaze that complements the painting.
