We are offering an exquisite early 19th century Venetian Rococo polychrome Trespoli candelabrum stand with accompanying wall shelf. The stand features a triangular shaped platform raised on three scrolled legs. It supports a single cabriole column, which terminates in a smaller triangular shaped top. The stand is made to fit against a wall but is free standing.
A equally exquisite matching serpentine carved wall bracket with three shelves accompanies the stand. The backs of the shelves are inset with hand carved trellis-designed panels.
This is a rare set; a Trespoli is a particular type of Venetian furniture developed in the 18th century as a small table on a tripartite base meant to serve as a candelabrum stand. They were often richly carved and decorated with polychrome lacquer. This Trespoli stand and wall shelf epitomizes the best of 18th and 19th century Venetian styles, with fine detail in the hand carved elements and incredible artistry in the green polychrome finish accentuated with sprigs of colorful floral enamels. The stand and shelf are in excellent age appropriate condition; a spectacular set to enhance any small space.
Size of Stand: 34 ½" Height by 24 ½" Width by 18" Depth
Size of Wall Shelf: 21" Height by 15" Width.
