We would like to present a stunning three-piece console or garniture set made by Salviati of Murano, Italy. The set consists of a compote and two matching candlesticks, produced circa 1910-30. The main color is a beautiful Venetian gold which is partly stepped up with striations of golden flecks. The swans and scalloped edges are contrasted in a flecked amethyst to blue coloration, a rare and extraordinary combination.
Murano Glass has existed on the Venetian Island of Murano since the 10th century. Some of the notable glass houses like Venini, Salviati, Barovier & Toso, and Serguso are represented in top museums and private collections throughout the world. The art of glass making involves a complex process, which requires the artist to be highly skilled. Sometimes pieces incorporate several artists, each adding their own additions to the finished product of which no two are alike.
The set is in almost perfect condition with the exception of one chip to the end of the petal of one leaf on a candlestick. This is a magnificent matched set that any Murano Glass collector would be proud to own.
Size of Compote: 10" Height by 9 ½" Diameter
