Mid 19th C. Floral Dutch Oil Painting On Canvas After Jan Van Huysum
This is a early to mid 19th century oil painting on canvas featuring a beautiful Dutch floral still life after the artist Jan van Huysum (1682 – 1749.) The painting is set upon a dark background and depicts a vase of flowers perched on a table. A birds nest with eggs and a butterfly enhance the imagery with strong bold colors.
The Van Huysums from Amsterdam were a family of 17th and 18th century Dutch painters who specialized in Still Life and Floral Landscape. Their paintings can be found in famous private collections including the Earl of Ellesmere's gallery and museum collections such as the Musée du Louvre.
The painting is in very good age appropriate condition and has been professionally cleaned with a minute amount of restoration to the gilded frame. The painting is identified on verso.
