19th C. French Louis XV Floral Marquetry Commode
Presented for sale is a 19th century French Louis XV style tulipwood commode with an exuberant display of floral marquetry inlays both on the front drawers and sides. The shaped Breccia marble top overhangs three full length serpentine drawers, and the commode is further embellished with heavy and finely cast bronze mounts.
This commode is from an important northern estate collection of top quality French 18th and 19th century furniture. It is in sound structural condition with minor age abrasions to a few spots of floral inlay, commensurate with age. It is an unusually tall size and will be a showpiece for any room of the house. Connoisseurs will recognize the quality of workmanship throughout.
Size: 39" H x 47 ½" W x 19 ½" D.
