An early 20th century French Empire style Bronze Encrier or Inkwell mounted on a marble platform base. The well is raised on three legs capped with winged sphinxes and terminating in hoofed feet. It is draped with floral garlands and mounted on a round stacked marble platform. The glass inkpot fits the inside of the well and the lid is topped with a wonderful Satyr.
The casting is very nicely detailed, this is a wonderful piece for a man's desk. It is in excellent age related condition with a mellowed patina to the bronze.
