Presented for sale is a rare pair of mid 19th century Majolica Ceramica trumpet vases hand painted by Giovanni Mollica. The vases feature beautiful hand painted continuous scenes with long graceful necks ending in crimped edges. Giovanni Mollica established his Neopolitan ceramica factory in the second half of the 19th century many times decorating the pieces himself. His talented sons followed in his footsteps making the Mollica factory one of the most important in Italy.
These vases are thought to have been decorated by the master himself along with one of his sons. The richly decorated scenes depict pastoral life in a rich tapestry of earthy bright colors typical of the Italian potters. They are quite large and showy with finely executed depictions of 19th century idyllic pastoral settings.
They are in very good condition with some professional restorations to the top edges and flowers.
Size: 24 1/2" Height.
