An extraordinary Carl Schumann Dresden style serving bowl with a wide serpentine ledge decorated in hand painted flowers with raised gilt highlighted scrolling. The inside of the bowl features floral panels alternating with embossed gilded panels over a pristine eggshell porcelain.
The Schumann porcelain factory operated in Arzberg, Germany (Bavaria) from 1881 to 1996. They were famous for their beautifully decorated white porcelain in the style of the revered Dresden factory. Their patterns were revivals of the heavily decorated Rococo styles often incorporating the famous Dresden flower motifs on high-quality porcelain blanks.
The bowl is unusual for its size and gilded panels; the flowers are hand painted (not transfers) and are finely detailed. It is in excellent condition with a small amount of wear to the gilding commensurate with age.
Size: 2 ½" Height by 14 ½" Length by 11 ½" Width.
