Chaise longues (lounges) gained popularity in the 18th century parlors of the French aristocracy, who often presented themselves reposed on them when greeting guests.
The chaise has been recently upholstered in a cream colored silk blend Scalamandré Damask. The original horsehair padding and hand tied springs have been tightened and refurbished, as well as plumping the loose down cushion. It is in excellent age related condition, the frame structurally very sound with no breaks.
