Beautiufl 3-piece German porcelain tea set made by the Rudolstadt Company in the early 20th century. The set consists of a Teapot, milk jug, and sugar bowl. The bas-relief hand painted decoration is in the style of Royal Naples porcelain and depicts Mortals and Immortals involved in various activities. The decoration is finely detailed and beautifully highlighted in gilt.
Rudolstadt Porcelain was founded in 1854 by Ernst Bohne Sohne and produced luxury porcelain of very high quality. They used the crowned “N” mark until 1920, but there is still much confusion about this mark also being used by several other German factories. The main difference in the German pieces as opposed to the Italian pieces is that the German wares were a hard paste porcelain and the detailing was sometime more refined than the original.
The set is in excellent condition with little to no paint or gilt wear.
