Offered for sale is a pair of late 19th century bookmatched giltwood George III style wall mirrors with display shelves fashioned after mirrors by Thomas Johnson.
The frames features a top crested carving of a "disheveled bird" standing upon an out cropping of rocks. Elaborate scroll work defines one side of the mirror, while divided columns decorate the other side. The serpentine shelf is elaborately decorated with an icicle like border over a scrolled base.
The mirrors are superb for display on either side of a larger mirror, painting, or tapestry as accent pieces. They are both in excellent age related condition with minor restoration to the frame.
Very heavy will need to be professionally packed and shipped.
