A rare hollow-cut silhouette of a young boy in a jaunty cap enhanced with blue ink. It was done by American itinerant silhouettist, Moses Chapman (1783 – 1821.) Chapman traveled the circuit around Essex, Massachusetts in the early part of the 19th century.
The young boy is finely cut and the silhouette is blind stamped as shown. It is inset in original molded gold washed frame with protective glass; in very good condition with age related flaking to the frame.
Size: 4 ¼" H x 3 ¼" W (including frame)
