A beautiful Carl Thieme porcelain Saxonian Dresden reticulated center bowl with applied florets and fruit. The bowl is supported on four scrolled legs with pierced handles on each side.
The bowl is typical of the beautiful flower encrusted work done by this world renown porcelain factory. Carl Thieme founded the Saxon Porcelain Manufactory in Potschappel in 1872 and thus began the production of his own porcelain. Upon his death in 1888, his trusted employee and later his son-in-law, Karl August Kuntzsch, took over the business. Kuntzsch was a very talented flower modeler but also proved himself an adept entrepreneur. He quickly introduced Dresden porcelain to international markets allowing for vigorous exportation and winning many prestigious awards along the way. Carl Thieme porcelain is one of the better known and respected of the Dresden Germany porcelain manufacturers.
The bowl or basket is in very good condition with minor chipping to some of the flower tips.
