The figure is hand painted with bold enamels, molded in fine detail, and enhanced with encrusted flowers. Europa And The Bull is one of the most recognizable figurines produced originally by the Meissen factory in the 18th century and later by other esteemed porcelain factories such as Chelsea and Derby. Samson's piece is a beautiful copy of these earlier pieces.
Edme Samson was a famous French porcelain producer of Meissen, Sevres, Vienna, and Chelsea copies. His workmanship and detail were extraordinary, and his pieces have become collectible in their own right. The figurine is in excellent condition with restoration to two of the toes of Europa.
