Offered for sale is a genuine 19th century handpainted Limoges game bird charger depicting a pheasant in flight, set against a shaded background. The charger has a wide gilt enhanced serpentine border and the contrasting enamel colors are vivid and lush.
Coronet Limoges were decorated in studios in Limoges and Paris, France and were imported by George Borgfeldt to the United States. His company was in business from 1881 to 1976. His Limoges game bird plates were one of his specialties, many of them sold by high end retailers to collectors of fine china.
The charger is in excellent condition, illegibly signed by the artist.
