A beautiful early 20th century Italian Faenza Maiolica wall charger with hand painted decoration. This charger is a replica of the highly respected work of the Renaissance style artists who created sensational works of art on large plates, vases, and other forms. Typical of that style is the wide mustard ground border with Raffaellesco Grotesques surrounding a center medallion painted in a classical Roman scene.
The charger was made by The Societa Ceramica de Colonnata of the Fiorentino region of Italy. It depicts Valerio Corvo slaying a Gaul in a duel during Roman times and is in pristine condition.
Size: 20" D.
