Offered for sale is a 3-piece English Derby porcelain Garniture set consisting of a larger central vase flanked by smaller side vases. The neoclassic ally shaped pedestal vases are decorated in a cobalt ground with different named scenes to front panels enhanced by gilt scrollwork. Beautiful curule shaped handles with palmette decoration adorn each vase.
The vases date 1800-1825, with the standard Derby mark in red. Each vase is in very good condition with slight amount of wear to gilt and minor crazing. There is an old restoration to some of the handles at the point where they curl into the palmette, this must have been a firing flaw upon production and a point of weakness in the design. These old restorations were probably done once the firing process was completed.
