Presented for sale is a fine 7-piece late 19th century Bohemian porcelain game bird set, each hand painted with different gaming birds. The large platter and accompanying plates have scalloped edges with wide borders of floral sprigs.
The set was made by one of the porcelain factories located in the Karlsbad area of Austria during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Karlsbad was a center for porcelain production. The set was produced for H. O'Neill & Company, a well respected 19th century importer who had a large store in New York City. Along with the store on 6th Avenue, Mr. O'Neill produced a large catalog that sold upscale household items.
The set is in excellent condition with little to no enamel or gilt wear, perfect for wall or cabinet display.
