Offered for sale is an unusual 19th century Meiji period Japanese Satsuma vase. The vase is baluster shaped with an elongated cone shaped neck decorated with gilded dragon handles. The base is decorated in a procession of warriors in fighting positions. The neck is hand decorated with brocade panels interrupted with scenic vignettes.
The vase is in good condition with a few tight interior hairlines to the neck, a plugged hole in the base, some wear to the gilt edges, and minor restoration to one of the side handles at the base. It is certainly striking in appearance and the workmanship finely detailed.
